Chiropractic Health Pre and Post Pregnancy

When a woman becomes pregnant and carries an unborn child within her, there is no avoiding the very human reality of having a physical body. It is accentuated by the miraculous process of creating new life and propagating the species. I emphasise this obvious truth, because for the great majority of our lives, the rest of us live inside our heads. Many of us sit on our behinds and stare into screens, dreaming and thinking our lives away, for much of our days. Having a baby does not allow this cerebral state of affairs to continue unabated, it forces the body to the fore.

Chiropractic Health Pre and Post Pregnancy

Many pregnant women can benefit from some sage advice from a qualified physical therapist. A chiropractor can mentally prepare a woman during pre-pregnancy for the changes that her body is about to undergo. Understanding what is going to happen, affords a woman in this position with an opportunity to meet the challenge ahead of her. The chiropractor can develop an individual program of exercises and postures, which can assist a woman during her pregnancy and into childbirth itself. Alleviating the pressures on spinal column, discs, joints and nerves, will greatly relieve discomfort and potential dangers for women undergoing these changes.

Chiropractic treatments are safe during pregnancy. The kind of chiropractic care offered for pregnant women is purposely gentle and specifically designed for their condition. Chiropractors are trained to work with pregnant women. Prenatal and postnatal care are sometimes specialist chiropractic pathways, with chiropractors operating in women’s centres and clinics. Specialist treatment tables are, also, sometimes used to cater for pregnant women’s bodies. The knowledge provided by these chiropractors, can make prenatal care far more successful for mothers to be. Click here for more. Chiropractic health pre and post pregnancy assists the most important members of our community, when it really matters.

Postnatal chiropractic care is often very important. Birthing a child can make profound changes within a woman’s body. Her pelvic region has undergone massive shifts, which cause biomechanical changes. These can result in discomfort for movements like walking and, even, when nursing and sleeping. Manipulations to the pelvic area can help restore balance in this region. Exercises and stretches can assist with regaining ease of mobility for the thoracic region. Chiropractors can help make a challenging time of life a little easier for mother and baby. Natural prenatal and postnatal care without drugs, which is supportive of breastfeeding for the benefit of new borns.

The Ethics of Keeping a Baby Who May Be Disabled

May 30, 2017

|Article

Thankfully the world is changing when it comes to the realm of human disability. No longer do we all subscribe to a policy of perfection at all costs. Historically, human beings shunned those among us who limped or were crippled in any way. We, as a species, like so many other types of animals, maintained a strict ‘only the strong shall survive’ creed. There was no room for those that could not fend for themselves. Babies were hard enough to keep alive as it was, without any doubt about their future to carry on our family lines.

The Ethics of Keeping a Baby Who May Be Disabled

Today, we live in a world, that, for most of us, is infinitely better than it was for our ancestors. Hunger and disease have been reduced to bit players in most communities in the western world. That wealth has enabled parents to choose the life of their child, despite the likelihood, that he or she, may be born with a disability. Science is giving us early warnings about things that we previously would never have known. This new foresight has enabled parents and doctors to prepare for these eventualities.

The question over whether a severely disabled child should be brought into this world has become more acute for parents, medical science, and for us as a community. For those in the caring professions, who have tangible experience of caring for the severely disabled, they feel it is their right and responsibility to voice humane arguments against allowing these lives of apparent suffering. Is it just to wilfully condemn a new born child to a life constrained by extreme physical disability? Is it not more humane to terminate these pregnancies immediately? Snip them in the bud, so to speak, before they can truly begin?

The ethics of keeping a baby who may be disabled is a complex matter; and disabilities exist on a continuum and a spectrum. There is, in this day and age, far more societal support for children with disabilities in many places around the globe. Within our communities, we must come to terms with our values around the sanctity of human life and where the line is, regarding, quality of life. Pro and anti-abortion debates continue in most countries world-wide. The ‘Right to Life’ is a banner held high, but the discussion must include what kind of life that refers to. It is a difficult discussion to have, but it must be had.

The Miracle of Birth: Love Means Making Way

We cannot always choose the perfect moment in our lives to have a child; sometime they come when we least expect it. The miracle of birth, when you have experienced it, is so powerful that it, often, changes all perspective. It is bathed in the power of love and love means making way for another being. Motherhood is the most sacred of all the roles that we as human beings perform in our lives. Men may have denigrated it over millennia, making it appear so mundane, as to not even deserve public recognition, but this is a falsehood.

The Miracle of Birth: Love Means Making Way

The miracle of birth draws the worlds of spirit and matter together in the union of new life. When a baby emerges and we hear the cry of existence, we are reminded of the spark of life. A child has formed inside its mother and from the nothingness it has become something tangible, something essentially lovable. The cosmic union of man and woman, of seed and egg, has produced magic in the form of life incarnate. A birth is a time of celebration, for the mother and father, their families and their community.

Births and deaths transcend the personal, they are bigger than one person’s domain or a couple’s private property, they belong to all. They are the gateway between worlds and the experience is tainted with the sacred, with real magic. The magic of new life. Births rejuvenate those around them, the grandparents, the siblings and the circle of friends. We must all realign our utter respect for the concept of birth. We must together march as one in according birth our every support: emotional, financial and ideologically.

Mothers must not be left alone with the fear and burden of impending birth. In some ways it is like making a big bet with existence. There is trepidation at what the mother’s new life will be like and what the child will be like. But it is like worrying about dying when you are a small child, there is no need to, because life prepares you with old age before you are faced with death, in most cases. In the same way, the experience of birth transforms the new mother and makes her a beacon of love. But at the same time she needs real material support from those around her. More than just Hallmark greeting card sentiment and a few stuffed toys.

Poverty and Abortion: A Fatal Attraction

June 14, 2016

|Article

Today in the world abortion rates are falling, thanks to the availability of other contraceptive alternatives. In developed countries abortion rates have fallen more than ten percent in the last twenty years. It is only in countries with oppressive religious laws, poverty and low rates of education that abortion continues to flourish covertly. Nobody wants to harm unborn children if they can avoid it. If you speak with women who have fallen pregnant and do not have the means to raise their child, they are devastated by the situation. You cannot and should not impose draconian laws on women in these situations. Instead you should take as many resources as you can to provide women with education, access to contraception and money to live on.

Poverty and Abortion: A Fatal Attraction

We all want babies to be born and children to grow up in loving and nurturing families, but if people cannot afford to properly feed and clothe their children it is a mistake to force people to comply with laws that force them into greater poverty. This kind of behaviour by the state is condemning its people to a cycle of endless poverty. Only through education will the standards of living be raised in third world countries and poor areas of developed nations. Abortion is a last resort for the great majority of women. Their bodies are designed to bear children and most women want to have children when the time is right. Anti-abortion laws do not lower abortion rates according to statistics recently published from research published in The Lancet.

You do not conceive and raise children at times of drought and famine; this only condemns those children to an early grave. Large families and extreme poverty mean high rates of childhood death. If the state cannot provide for those in need within its population, then it should not be enforcing them to have babies. No mother wants to kill her own children born or unborn. Do not force desperate people into desperate situations. Feed the people if they cannot feed themselves, this must be the first priority of the state. If we want stop the twenty five percent of abortions still happening out of every one thousand pregnancies worldwide, then we need to end poverty.

Do not bring more people into the world if you cannot adequately nourish them. Do not set yourself up as moral arbiter over the poor if you cannot look after the poor properly in your country or community. Personal debt saddles individuals with an inability to look after themselves, let alone another defenceless and vulnerable human being. Empower the people through choice and they will make the right choice. Provide opportunities for the people and they will take them with both hands. Do not support the rich minority at the expense of the poor majority and then complain about the morality of the poor. The poor cannot always afford your conception of morality. If you want to fight for the life of children, put your energy into ending global poverty.

Swinging of the first months of application of the law of the abortion

abortion law

1. On the last 11th of February, in each 4 Portuguese’s they passed 1 on behalf of the discipline of the abortion till 10 weeks, after a campaign in which it was said and repeated what one would not promote the abortion and his legalization would not be in question, but only the end of the penal pursuit to the women who intend to remove the life of his children till 10 weeks of gestation;

2. There was produced a spacious law, of the most permissive of Europe, without paying attention to the preoccupations expressed by many voices, which appealed to the moderation, to the observation of other European systems in what it respects to this matter, with ser the German law, which protects – still that limited – the intrauterine life;

3. The abortion is legal, permitted and promoted by the Ministry of Health that not more ceased of bringing all the proceedings into effect necessarily to the placing of this practice in the pedestal of the legislative conquests, bringing to the life of many women an avoidable drama for the prohibition of the abortion. Amazingly the only comment of the Government to is the application of the law what this one “passes with normality”, showing his contentment with the fact without a notice even of preoccupation in realizing how it is possible to avoid this drama!

4. To way of the September, the General Direction of Health gave piece of news of 1435 abortions carried out from the 15th of July: they represent nearly 24 abortions in a day. An abortion per hour.

5. According to documented by the Social Communication along this last week, the clandestine abortion did not finish – not unfortunately it will finish – in Portugal. Again with pretext of resolving a problem, the Government came to add others, because it did not attack the causes of the problem for his root.

6. However there are other ways. From the referendum of last February they were born for the country it had been several centers of support to the Life where the women with a crisis pregnancy can find support and support and his son be born. Between others we tell Portalegre, Sense of smell, Viseu, Evora, Hot springs of the Queen, Setúbal, etc. In several other centers the help requests have been growing: many people come from women to whom the existence of the legal abortion came to put them in a situation of possible resource to this one that before was not placing him itself. But for these the Government has not a word, a measure, a preoccupation.

7. We will follow attentive the evolution of the situation and we do not resign remembering that the abortion is an evil in which all they lose the life a child, his parents and the society in his. We will keep on witnessing with our Life and pledge that the abortion is never a solution and that there are more human alternatives. We will not stop complaining of the Government that helps the civil society to help the one who needs and to become more just and supportive.
